Media Content Analysis

S&C can track and provide content analysis of media coverage (both print and electronic). We can determine if the client's messages are getting out, being understood and are being portrayed accurately. This is particularly important when major information campaigns are launched or when lingering issues of public interest dominate the news.

Benefit: By performing content analyses one can determine if your news coverage is negative, balanced or positive. Hispanics are the largest minority in the U.S. S according to the 2000 census.
Since the Hispanic population has grown to be largest minority population in the US, the ability to research in both languages, and to understand the various differences between the Hispanic population will become more important for the government. INTERVIEW APPROACHES
S&C uses different approaches depending on the customer needs. Among them are:
  In-depth interviews
 

Interviews designed to have the interviewer talk to the interviewee without a structured questionnaire, usually using a topic guide, so the conversation flows more in a natural way. It is a more flexible technique and the interviewer can obtain more in-depth information than through other techniques.

  Face to face interviews
 

Interviews conducted with a targeted individual using a scripted questionnaire. The interview is conducted where the interviewee is located.

  Telephone, direct mail or Internet interviews
 

Telephone can be very quick and mail is slow and costly. The Internet is quick; however, you can use it only when the subject to be interviewed is Internet savvy.

S&C EXPERIENCE

Since 1976, S&C has been conducting different types of research for private corporations, non-profit organizations and the federal government.

Our approach is to learn what the client wants to know. We do this initially to prepare our proposal. Before we start on the project we request an input session with all involved from the client side and from the agency side to determine all of the information that is being sought, and that we ask our clients to prioritize the information. In research you cannot always get answers to all your questions through one research project, so we like to have an agreement ahead of time of what the outcome information needs to provide to the end users.

Once we have this information we recommend the type of research that can meet their needs. We provide them with the timing, alternative methods of obtaining the information and alternative budgets. Once our clients have decided their preference, we prepare our questionnaires. These are reviewed and approved by our clients. We then test a small sample to see if the questionnaire will deliver the results we need. We then make any adjustments to the questionnaire needed and obtain our clients approval.

S&C uses established research facilities on an as needed basis. This may include focus groups facilities and the use of call centers. We request 3 bids from established research facilities and based on the best value for our clients we select the vendor. We supervise and approve of the people selected to be interviewed and we spot check calls to insure high quality standards. If it is a very large project, we access several research professionals or university professors in our area who provide their services for specific projects.

Depending on the complexity of the project, S&C selects which staff members will participate in each contract. These team members have a leader who oversees the entire project, it has a project manager who implements the needed tasks and coordinates with the client on a daily basis. Management oversight is carried out by either Earline or Andy Lagueruela (President and General Manager).
